It ranges too widely for one honest number — a cosmetic refresh and a full gut with layout changes are different projects entirely. What I can tell you is what moves the price: whether fixtures move, what's hiding behind the existing tile, tile and vanity selections, and glass. Send photos and what you're hoping for, and you'll get a written estimate for your actual room — free, and usually within a business day.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A cosmetic refresh is typically days; a full remodel is typically weeks — tile setting, waterproofing cure times, and glass lead times set the pace more than labor does. I'll give you a realistic schedule with the estimate, and because one person runs the whole job, you won't lose the weeks that come from waiting on a second or third sub to show up.
Do I need a permit to remodel my bathroom?
For cosmetic work — new vanity, tile, fixtures in the same locations — generally no. Move plumbing, add circuits, or change the room's footprint and yes, a permit is usually required. That's not a reason to shrink the project: I'm a licensed general contractor, pulling the permit is my job, and an inspected remodel is worth more when you sell.
Can you make my small bathroom feel bigger without an addition?
Almost always. The usual culprits are an oversized vanity, a dark shower curtain wall, and bad lighting. A right-sized or floating vanity, a glass panel, larger-format tile, and layered lighting will change how the room feels more than most people believe. I'll tell you honestly if your room is the rare one where nothing short of moving a wall helps.
What makes a shower last thirty years instead of ten?
What's behind the tile, and you only get one chance at it. Denver's housing stock is full of showers tiled straight over drywall or an old mud bed, and by the time a surround has soft spots or grout lines that never dry, there's water in the wall. Every shower I build goes over a modern waterproofing membrane rather than just cement board — invisible on day one, and the whole difference a decade later.
