Kitchen Appliances
Refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, disposals, and ice makers — each with its own dedicated page and its own failure patterns.
Services
Every broken appliance poses the same two questions: what failed, and is it worth fixing? The answers differ wildly by machine and symptom — a dryer that won't heat is usually a cheap part, a fridge compressor usually isn't. This is the category where honest diagnosis earns its keep.
The approach
Appliance repair rewards pattern knowledge, because machines fail in predictable ways. Dryers stop heating at the thermal fuse or heating element. Washers leak at pumps and door boots. Dishwashers stop draining at the pump or fail at the inlet valve. Fridges warm up from failed evaporator fans and dirty condenser coils long before compressors die. Knowing the patterns means diagnosis is fast and parts are often on hand — and it means I can tell you over the phone, from the symptom, roughly what you're probably facing.
The repair-or-replace answer follows a rough rule worth knowing: if the repair costs more than half what a comparable new machine runs, and the machine is past half its expected life, replacement usually wins. But the rule bends by machine — a fifteen-year-old washer with a solid drum deserves a new pump; a seven-year-old builder-grade dishwasher with a failed control board mostly doesn't. I'll give you the numbers for your actual machine and let you decide, because it's your money and both answers are on my menu either way.
Each major appliance has its own dedicated page here — refrigerator, washer and dryer, dishwasher, oven and stove, ice maker — with the specific symptoms and failure patterns for that machine. This page is the front door: if you're not sure what's wrong, or several things need attention at once, start here. Multi-appliance visits are common and efficient; the service call that fixes the dryer can look at the noisy fridge for the cost of a few more minutes.
