Flooring Installation in Lakewood, CO

New flooring transforms a room faster than almost anything else you can do to it — and flooring problems are almost never the flooring's fault. Squeaks, gaps, peaking seams, and planks that clack underfoot trace back to the subfloor and the installation, which is exactly where I spend the unglamorous hours.

The approach

How I handle flooring installation.

The subfloor conversation comes first because it decides everything. Every squeak gets screwed down, soft spots get replaced, high spots ground and low spots filled — floating floors especially will telegraph and clack over dips the spec sheet says don't matter. Skipping this step is how a beautiful new floor sounds like a boardwalk in six months. It's also the step you can't redo without pulling the floor back up, which is why it doesn't get skipped here.

Denver's dryness is a real variable, not a footnote. Wood and laminate ship at a moisture content that doesn't match a front-range winter living room, and flooring installed straight off the truck shrinks into winter gaps you'll see every January. Materials acclimate on site before installation, expansion gaps respect the swing between July humidity and February furnace air, and for hardwood I'll tell you honestly which species and formats handle our climate gracefully and which fight it.

Material advice here is honest rather than trendy. LVP earns its popularity — waterproof, tough, convincing to look at, right for kitchens, baths, and basements. Laminate gives more realistic texture per dollar in dry rooms. Hardwood remains the floor that adds real value and refinishes for decades, and the right engineered formats behave better than solid in our climate. Tile is its own world and has its own page. What you'll get from me is the honest fit for your room, budget, and dogs — not whatever needs moving this month.

What’s included

Every flooring installation project includes:

  • Subfloor checked and corrected — flatness, squeaks, soft spots, moisture
  • LVP, laminate, hardwood, and tile installed to each material's real spec
  • Acclimation done properly, which Denver's dry air makes non-negotiable
  • Underlayment matched to the floor and the room, not whatever's cheapest
  • Transitions, thresholds, and baseboard or shoe molding finished cleanly
  • Old flooring torn out and hauled away, floors left ready to live on
