Who shows up
Hi, I'm Zack.
Fifteen years on the tools across the west Denver metro. Tile fails at the substrate and flooring fails at the subfloor — both look like surface problems and neither is, which is why the prep takes longer than the pretty part.
That's the part a rushed installer skips and you notice two years later. I'd rather spend the extra hours underneath and have the finish outlast everything around it.

My tile keeps cracking in the same spot. Why?
Something underneath is moving. Usually it's subfloor flex — not enough thickness or a joist span that deflects — but it can also be a slab crack telegraphing up, or tile set directly over an old adhesive bed. Refilling the grout or swapping the tile won't hold. I'll pull a tile and look at what's under it, and then tell you what the actual fix costs.
Is regrouting worth it, or should I retile?
If the tile is sound and well-bonded and it's just the grout that looks tired, regrouting is excellent value — a fraction of retiling and it genuinely transforms how the surface reads. If tiles are loose, hollow-sounding, or cracked, or if grout keeps failing in one specific area, regrouting is putting makeup on a problem and retiling is the honest answer.
Can you install flooring over my existing floor?
Sometimes. Vinyl plank can go over sound, flat, well-adhered vinyl or tile. It cannot go over anything loose, cupped, or uneven — the new floor will telegraph every flaw and separate at the seams. I'll check flatness with a straightedge and tell you honestly whether the underlayment saves you money or costs you a redo.
Do you do basement floors?
Yes, with a moisture test first. Denver basement slabs vary a lot, and slab moisture will ruin laminate and some adhesives from underneath regardless of how well it was installed. Testing is cheap and fast. If moisture is high, luxury vinyl plank over the right underlayment is usually the material that works.
